CANASTOTA >> Damp conditions and a chill in the air that made it feel more like April than June didn’t stop the flock of boxing fans to the International Hall of Fame for a handful of activities in day two of the annual Hall of Fame weekend.
At the early afternoon celebrity workout in the museum ring, Julius Jackson entertained the crowd with jabs. Jackson, the son of famed boxer Julian Jackson and brother John Jackson, hails from the Virgin Islands.
Signing autographs and smiling to fans, Jackson said participating in Hall of Fame weekend was almost like a dream come true. Something he had waited for all of his life.
“I’ve seen so much of this place on Youtube, in videos…on ESPN Classic…it’s almost unreal,” said Jackson. “It’s just such a historic place and being here you can really feel the sense of history.
“I thank the Hall of Fame for inviting me and suggesting I come here and do this.”
