    2014 - 02.14

Julius “the Chef” Jackson, son of three time World Champion and Boxing Hall of Famer Julian “the Hawk” Jackson was born August 1, 1987 in St Thomas, Virgin Islands. Jackson lived the majority of his life in St Thomas, with the exception of a few years he spent in Las Vegas, Nevada during the height of his father’s career.  Jackson began his amateur boxing career at the age of 13 and was a three time amateur boxing champ. After an impressive performance at qualifiers in Guatemala, Julius joined the ranks of some of the finest athletes in the world at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China. After the Olympics, Jackson transitioned into the professional boxing world in the Super Middleweight category and has started his climb to the top. At the Boxing in Paradise on April 25th, 2012 Jackson won the title of WBC (USNBC) Super Middleweight Champion. Jackson is well-respected among top name boxing champions and has become a first choice in the world of sparring mates. In September 2012, Julius was tapped to be sparring partner to boxing great Sergio Martinez, in preparation for the highly anticipated fight between Martinez and Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr.  Months later, Jackson was chosen a second time as Martinez’s sparring partner, accompanying him to training in Spain. In January 2014, Jackson traveled to the famed Big Bear area to train with Gennady “Triple G” Golovkin under Abel Sanchez.  Julius’ most recent fight took place in Cordoba, Argentina but was also televised to thousands of viewers of TyC Sports. The event set a new record for boxing viewership in Argentina.  Julius has a current record of 17-0 and is currently ranked 10th in the world by the WBA, in his weight class. Outside of the ring, Jackson, who graduated from the Florida Culinary Institute in 2008, is an accomplished chef (hence the nickname). When he’s not boxing, he’s most likely in the kitchen and is well-known for his knockout wings that won the 2012 St Thomas King of the wing competition. Jackson also volunteers in local schools sharing the message of Jesus and is breaking into the modeling scene. Jackson, who has eight siblings, is extremely dedicated to family.  He is also passionate about continuing the Legacy started by VI boxing greats such as Peter Jackson, Sugar Ray Seals, Emile Griffith, and Julian Jackson, Sr. Julius had the distinct honor of accompanying his father Julian Jackson to the International Boxing Hall of Fame weekend in Canastota, NY where his father was being honored. Julius had two media workouts and signed countless autographs for the many fans who braved the rainy weather. In addition, Julius is the focus of soon to be released documentary “What It Takes” which chronicles never before seen footage of his training and personal life.
